O aeroporto de Joanesburgo, Oliver Tambo registrou a maior movimentação de passageiros desde 2010 (o ano em que foi inaugurado, e também o ano em que o Campeonato Mundial de Futebol foi realizado na Àfrica do Sul) até 2019 (devido ao impacto da pandemia), o ano em que perdeu a “hegemonia” para o aeroporto de Cairo.
Nota-se que a partir do final de 2010, o aeroporto do Cairo registrou um declínio acentuado na movimentação de passageiros.
Isto, devido ás manifestações de protesto (da Primavera Àrabe) que iniciaram no Egipto em Dezembro daquele ano e terminaram em Dezembro de 2012.
Contudo, o facto mais notável do gráfico é a redução em “queda livre” que os 10 Aeroportos mais Movimentados de Àfrica registraram a partir de 2019.
O Aeroporto de Joanesburgo, Oliver Tambo, que no príncipio de 2019 (pré-pandemia) registrava movimentações aos 30 milhões de passageiros, em 2020, sofreu uma redução vertiginosa, chegando a 7 milhões de passageiros.
Observa-se também que o Egipto (aeroporto do Cairo) é o País africano que tem recuperado mais depressa neste período “Pós-Pandemia”, tendo alcançado movimentações de passageiros superiores ao período pré-pandemia desde 2021.
