Air Sénégal receives two more Airbus A220-300s at the end of 2022

Air Sénégal expects to receive two more new Airbus A220-300 aircraft at the end of December next week, announced last week in Dakar, capital of this African country, Doudou Ka, the minister responsible for air transport and aviation.

The new aircraft, with the capacity to carry up to 113 passengers, are part of an order for eight aircraft, whose acquisition was announced in 2019 at the Dubai Airshow.

The first aircraft of the A220-300 type was received at Léopold Sédar Senghor/Dakar Airport on December 29 last year.

The acquisition of these aircraft is part of the program to modernize the fleet of Air Sénégal, a state-owned company that was launched four years ago and which has experienced many difficulties in recent months, with management constantly criticized due to various delays and cancellations of flights, in addition to other cases of overbooking of reservations.

The integration of new aircraft will reinforce the operational capabilities of the Senegalese flag carrier, whose fleet has recently experienced some difficulties, namely breakdowns that led to delays or cancellations of flights.

In 2019, in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, Air Sénégal transported around 300,000 passengers.

The numbers have grown and this year the company’s managers hope to reach 800,000 passengers, with the contribution of the new aircraft.

Next year will have to be the year of reaffirmation and independence for the company, which has been greatly helped by the government.
